General Operating Standards
1. All material is weighed in as it arrives at our plant, prior to being allocated to our secure stock area in readiness for recycling. In respect of secure destruction requirements, we normally start processing this material within 24 hours of it arriving on site.2. All material that leaves our site is also weighed as part of our objective to recycle as close to 100 per cent as is possible.
3. Some clients operate ethical policies and do not want their waste material streams getting into specific markets; we can meet this requirement provided the volumes are sufficient to make this a viable proposition.
4. Clients receive a Certificate of Destruction that details the weight of materials we have processed, each material being identified, as well as a Waste Transfer Note.
5. Some clients require not just the weight of material but the actual count of items. For example, we would receive a manifest showing titles and numbers that are supposed to be in the consignment as we receive it. We check the actual against the manifest and identify any variances to the client concerned.
6. We photograph any suspicious situations - eg empty cardboard boxes that should contain a particular product or number of products and the client is notified immediately with the details. This is often important for a client where secure/sensitive materials are involved. We endeavour to comply with our clients requirements in respect of whatever detail/process is required.
7. In respect of transport, we operate our own vehicles, each with tail-lift, for smaller loads and use FACT accredited transport companies for requirements of 7.5 tons and over. These companies are experienced in carrying secure destruction materials and are used to working within the standards as laid down by FACT. Vehicles carrying confidential materials are sealed after loading at the clients' premises and opened only on arrival at Ross.
